Inspirational Artist

We learned all about the Irish artist Eoin O Connor. We produced stunning pictures inspired by his works.

Spring Science!

Today we began a spring themed Science investigation. We think that seeds need water to grow. We planted seeds, but we will not water all of them. We will observe if this has an impact on how they grow. We are excited to see if our predictions are correct!

Springtime

We are learning all about spring. We learned about the different parts of flowers.

There is no one better to be than myself!

This week in SPHE, we have been talking about the things that make us great! The boys chose statements that best represented who they are and read them out for our class. We are very lucky teachers to work with such an amazing group of boys.

Christopher Columbus

We put an amazing amount of effort into our work on Christoher Columbus.

Antarctica

We have worked extremely hard on our projects about Antarctica. We learned all about the climate and the animals that live there.

Sensory Bags

Last term in SPHE, we spent a lot of time naming and talking about big feelings. Today, we talked about what we can do when we feel overwhelmed by these feelings. We tried some breathing strategies such as whale breathing, candle breathing and rainbow breathing. The boys made sensory bags. They chose their favourite calming smells and their favourite colours. Our classroom smelled beautiful!

Narrative Stories

The boys worked cooperatively today to retell narrative stories. They identified the title, setting, characters, problem and solution of their stories. We have been working on narratives in our writing and the boys have made super progress.

First Class work!

The boys in Prefab 9 always do their best! Look at the focus and concentration they show as we work on bigger numbers during Maths. We are so proud of them.

Investigating Magnetism

Today the  boys spent time investigating with magnets. We learned that a magnet is a material that produces a magnetic force called a magnetic field. Magnetism is an invisible force. The force attracts some but not all metals. Magnets have a north pole and a south pole. Opposite poles attract and like poles repel. First, we investigated how magnets attract and repel. Then we investigated in our classroom. Finally, we explored whether magnets can attract metals through other materials. The boys love our Science lessons and we had lots of fun conducting today’s experiments.
